We all have to decide for ourselves what path forward serves us best, and religions do fill some needs. However, for me now, I think they are nothing more than business organizations, full of hypocricy, hungry for money, power and control, and most, if not all, are downright dangerous!
I no longer believe in organized religions at all! I realize many who read this rant won’t agree with me, but that’s ok. We all have to decide for ourselves what path forward serves us best, and religions do fill some needs. However, for me now, I think they are nothing more than business organizations, full of hypocricy, hungry for money, power and control, and most, if not all, are downright dangerous! They allow people to stop thinking for themselves. In some ways, maybe I’m just the tiniest bit envious of those who can give up thinking for themselves, but nah……not really.

Even though I did not impose any religious beliefs on either of my children, they both wanted to explore that avenue for themselves in their teen years. I didn’t object. The church my daughter chose was an Assembly of God church and at Halloween time, they sponsored something called Hell House. She came home one Sunday very excited because she had been chosen to be the Prom Queen during Hell House…….the DEAD Prom Queen under the car of the alcoholic who hit her. She was insulted and hurt when I absolutely refused to go see her “performance”! Now, years later, she’s forgiven me and understands exactly why I objected so strongly. I was so upset by the entire premise of Hell House I actually called the Youth Minister and challenged him to explain how they justified Hell House. After all, if Jesus is the role model, did he have to scare the crap out of young people to bring them into the fold? Again, hypocricy!! There was no Hell House the following year.

Recently a friend suggested to me that religion is to true spirituality as porn is to great sex! Ha……I have to agree.
